The Employment Diaries!

I've undergone some life changes since my last update here: I am once again employed!

I recently started a new, part-time job working in a tasting room at a small, local winery. So far, it's been a perfect way to get out of my apartment and earn enough to pay the bills. It's only part-time, so I can't say I'm making enough to live a life of luxury. But it does mean I still have time in the day to continue pursuing my freelance art career, which I love!

Unfortunately, this does mean I have to rethink my priorities a bit. I have more hours in a day than when I worked full-time, but obviously it's still less than when I was unemployed. So my "throw random darts" strategy is no longer viable; I need to figure out where to put my efforts so they actually pay off.

(To be perfectly honest, this blog is an effort that doesn't necessarily pay off. But turning it into an online diary as opposed to a creating entries that I thought would generate views has greatly reduced the amount of effort it takes to post, so I'll keep it up for now!)

As excited as I was to have endless hours to work on myself as an artist, I actually think it was for the best that I got a job which forced me out of my apartment. Without a reason to get up and go out, I turn into a hermit whether I want to or not and I do not have the personality to succeed in those conditions. As hard as I tried to avoid it, I still ended up just staying in bed or flopping on the couch with my tablet. The only reason I'd get up is to eat or use the restroom. It was no way to live long-term.

Now, I have a weekly schedule to follow, people to interact with, and a fresh supply of real-life inspiration to feed my creativity. And who knows: if I can earn enough through my art in the next few months, maybe I can commit to even fewer hours at my day job. A girl can dream!

For now, my current goals still include:

  • Grow my Patreon

  • Continue posting daily on Instagram

  • Launch an Etsy

  • Start on Youtube

Plus share my thoughts and whatever I'm up to on this blog :)

About a month and a half has gone by and already this has been a wild journey for me. I really appreciate you following along! Time shall tell where we end up next!!
